Arch Stools

Early corbelled arches were not structurally self-supporting and first appeared as early as the Stone Age. True self-supporting arches first appeared in Mesopotamia, but it was the Romans that applied the arch to wide range of structures, notably aqueducts and bridges that were spread throughout their empire. Taller and lighter structures in the Gothic period were made possible through innovation of the arch's form that allowed religious buildings to become the world's first skyscrapers. This collection transforms the arches that shaped five thousand years of architectural history into stools for your home or workplace.
