The Byzantine arch consists of two or more arches supported by central colonettes.
Byzantine architecture (Eastern Roman Empire) began as an extension of Roman architecture, but gradually drifted to become geometrically more complex. Later, early Islamic architecture took influence from the Byzantine style.
Appears in the Hagia Sofia, throughout Venice and the towers of the Brooklyn Bridge.
